Durant Nature Park

On Tuesday, Oct. 23rd the Byrds headed out to Durant Nature Park to enjoy the afternoon together. It is a beautiful area, and we almost had the place to ourselves!

They have a nice shaded playground and picnic area, and we played there first.

Both boys swinging!

Then we headed to the woods nearby by walk a bit!
(For the record, I guess this was technically Charlie's first hiking trail since he walked some of it!)

This is our boy getting up from tripping. Had he not tripped he would've run smack into that tree behind him- he wasn't watching where he was excitedly running!

Trotting through the woods. Truly my happy place.

The all-terrain stroller!

The creek we walked next to.

FALL.

Throwing sticks in the water

The stroller ride lulled him to sleep.

This is Jimmy's "Really, Bec?!" face. He looked at me like this when I suggested we take off Charlie's shoes and let him play a bit in the creek. It was a beautiful day but the water was chilly! Charlie was basically not interested at all in getting in the creek in any fashion. Oh well, maybe next summer!

On our way back to the car we stopped to skip rocks here.

Charlie actually got some in the lake! He had a great time (and so did Jimmy and me!).

Henry was not as thrilled about rock skipping as the rest of us.

I'm so grateful for places like Durant Nature Park where we can go relax for the afternoon and have fun outside!
