Beach Trip 2013 - Part 1

On the morning of Saturday the 8th, the Byrds packed up almost everything we own and headed for the beach at Nags Head! Before arriving at the beach, we planned to stop a few miles short of our destination, the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island. The boys had a BLAST running around like madmen and looking at all of the fish! Unfortunately, we didn't have our camera on the trip, so I only have these pics from the Aquarium that I took with my phone...(BUT we have a bunch taken with Marsha's camera)

Charlie was so fascinated by the fish

Charlie thought this was his fish :), but we did get him a smaller one

Henry was much more entertained than I expected; he said many a "dee-dee" and "gnh-gnh"

We left the Aquarium and got to the beach house around 5pm, had some dinner, and then Granana took Charlie on a walk to see the ocean!

SATURDAY EVENING AT THE BEACH

 first time at the beach this year, and Charlie doesn't get very close to the water

but he did enjoy playing in the sand

 GOOD MORNING!

Charlie has taken a liking to fruit bars for breakfast

going to the beach; the wagon was good idea on this trip; the boys loved the rides, and we loved the storage

oops! Charlie tumbled on the shore and got his face wet, and he didn't appreciate it

Charlie ran on the beach a ton; he was like David Hasselhoff, but not in slow-motion

we used our imagination and came up with several sand games

 oH yEaH, wagon ride time!

as Charlie says, "unca Dan-uhl!"

you might not be able to tell, but they liked when the water went under the wagon

 this shows how much Henry loves his Ritz crackers; he's triple-stackin' it!

we transported a bunch of water from the ocean to our spot under the pier

Charlie showed some genuine enthusiasm for our ice cream treats!

this was a lot of fun; we were all playing the cups like drums

Charlie loves sitting next to his Gammer, and he has actually started using the

preferred name, Grandaddy as well

the boys are actually are only half-smiling at Daddy whose acting goofy to try to get a smile

TRIP TO JOCKEY'S RIDGE, A.K.A. THE DUNES

of course, Charlie thought it was awesome

Daddy is proud of his boy; he made it halfway up the hill by himself

then Daddy helped him the rest of the way

"Hello, down there!"
