Time With Henry

For the past couple of days we've just had Henry since Charlie has been at Granana's. It's so odd not to have the whole family together, and of course we miss Charlie, but it's been nice to get some alone time with Henry too!

One night during this time we took dinner to Jimmy's school to eat with him. We found out while we were there that he wasn't able to take his test, so we just all three played on the big terrace behind the school. A lot of the time Henry is in a stroller when we are out and about since I can really only chase one kid at a time (and that kid is usually Charlie). He got to run everywhere that night and loved it!

I was taking a picture of his one curl.

Handsome boys!

I was supposed to be helping at Runner's Camp for the two mornings that Charlie was gone, but Henry woke up that Tuesday with pink eye. While I would've loved to have been at camp, I loved even more that I got that additional unexpected time with Henry!

After watching his brother, he figured out how to play tee ball all by himself!

Such a sweet, snuggly boy!

I also wanted to record some things about Henry at 14 months:

On April 17th Henry's first tooth FINALLY erupted! Yay! It was one of the bottom front ones, and the other one erupted shortly thereafter. Just in the past week or two his top middle-left tooth started coming in, and in the last several days the right one has started coming in too. He has such a sweet little grin!

At 14 months he looooves to walk/trot around, either inside or outside, and he likes for someone to follow him. I guess he likes the chase! When he's really excited about where he's going he flaps his arms or hangs his tongue out of his mouth and giggles. He has such a look of glee on his face as he trots here and there! He also likes to play catch/fetch with himself and push his cars around. Henry can make a great car noise! He likes to tease and play around, and as Jimmy says, he has his own brand of goofy!

He pretty much points to whatever he wants, which seems to be an efficient means of communication so far. I love to hear him talk, though, and he can say:
"Da-dee" (Daddy)
"Dee-dee" (what he calls Mickey)
"Ball" (He loooooves playing with a ball so much!)
Yesterday when we were talking about Elmo he said "Mel-mo."
"Ma-ma" (He says this occasionally when I ask him to...)
"Ca-kerr" (Cracker)
"Ba-ba" (Bottle)

He loves to play on the couch and in the couch, and he loves to bury his face in soft things. So when he plays on the couch, he buries his face in all the pillows and thinks it's the best thing ever!

He goes to sleep on his tummy with his bum in the air, and he almost always has Mickey and Puppy under his stomach/legs. Sometimes when you put him to bed he rolls around and makes the sweetest little coos, like that's his way of settling himself down for the night.

Henry ate stage 2 baby food for a long time; he didn't want to touch anything that was remotely textured. Finally, after quite a few tries, he decided he would eat stage 3 baby food! Right away he did great with using a spoon and actually seems to have good hand-eye coordination so far. Over the course of several weeks or so he then transitioned to eating both big kid food and still some baby food, and then finally to all big kid food.

Enjoying stage 3 spaghetti.

It does get messy....

but man, is it good!!

Finally eating a granola bar

His first sandwich for lunch!

Update at 15 mos:
"Pee" (Please)
"No" (He knows that one really well, and he waves his hand in the air for emphasis!)
When he's really hungry and wants a snack, he usually just goes to his feeding chair and makes some noise. Also, when he's trying to communicate something to us and we get it right, he usually grunts his approval.

He can entertain himself for quite a while by playing tee ball either in the house or outside. His Daddy is quite proud!

He is doing a great job eating big kid food and is even out-eating his brother at this point. (Yikes!!) One morning for breakfast he had oatmeal with prunes mixed in, yogurt, a granola bar, and applesauce. Then he often eats a mid-morning snack with Charlie, or breakfast #2. That boy is growin'! He loves PB&J sandwiches, and yogurt and applesauce are two of his absolute favorites. Ice cream is another love. He still doesn't like to eat much other fruit, but I guess that will come with time.

We are finally completely done with bottles- the last bottle to go was the morning milk bottle at 5:30 or so. Now we just put the paci in his mouth and he goes back to sleep.

A third tooth on the top has erupted (to the right of the middle right tooth). Slowly but surely, he is getting those teeth!

Henry knows the cow and duck sounds and most of the time says the horse goes "Neigh." We're working on the other sounds.

He seems to be more interested in books now- not just reading them with us, but looking at them on his own, too. One morning I dozed on the couch and he hit me in the head with a book and made a loud noise, ha! He got his point across that he wanted me to read to him!

He watches Curious George and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with his brother and really likes to tote around Charlie's stuffed Curious George.

Our trip to Tennessee was the first time Henry rode forward-facing in a big boy carseat! He was precious looking out the window at things, pointing and talking about them. He seems to really like sitting this way, so I think we'll keep him forward.

He is now officially in the Young Toddlers class at church and does great in there (we can peek in since we serve in the room right beside it during the first hour of church...)!

He does not like getting in any cold water like pools or fountains. He does, however, love his baths, and he seems to have much more fun when brother is not in there with him splashing him in the face.
