Christmas in Virginia

Twas the Night Before Christmas...Jimmy-style
Jimmy and Rebecca were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And Marsha in her ‘kerchief, and Donnie and Daniel in their Yankee caps,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap.

When, all of a sudden, alas it was seven,
We sprang from our beds to open the presents!!!

Donnie got a supercool, jazzy Bebop hat. He can "don" it (pun intended) while taking a stroll.

We got this lunch box/DVD set for Dan the Man because he LOVES the Three Stooges!

Rebecca got a water filter for our family hiking trips!

YES, I love this gift. It is the ESV Study Bible! We thought it was a good idea to have a Byrd Family Bible, so I picked out the Bible. This will be used in our family devotions, and it also has a section to record marriages and births. It was a present from Marsha and Donnie.

THEN...We had a great breakfast at the home of Debbi and Leonard Bowen. The spread included bacon and egg casserole, cheese grits (Yummm), biscuits and gravy, and baked apples.

THEN DOWN CAME THE SNOWWWW!!!

It was funny on Christmas evening. Throughout the day, several of us were checking the weather updates, which changed from maybe snow, to some snow, to several inches. It started snowing Christmas afternoon. Regardless of the impending blizzard, all of the Barker clan were together for a 5pm dinner. The food was incredible! We had great conversations with our kin folk. Mid way through dinner, several family members realized that the roads were getting bad. It was decided that it would be a good idea to finish dinner and quickly exchange gifts since some of the family needed to travel back home. It was probably the fastest gift exchange in recorded history. :) We received about 5 inches of light, fluffy snow that night! We indeed had a very, merry White Christmas!

The next day, Marsha made a big breakfast, and we had a lazy day. Church services were cancelled, so watched a movie and hung out. Rebecca, Donnie, and I walked down the road and enjoyed the snowy landscape. Sadly, we left for home around 3 o'clock.

Later on, Rebecca and I had a great evening of Papa John's pizza and movies. Good times.

Love, Peace, and Chicken Grease,
Jimmy
