Thanksgiving 2011

Since we'd had our big trip to TN the weekend before, we decided to stay in town on Thanksgiving and were able to spend the day with some of our dearest friends! Jenny and Daniel Jones, Jeni Sinclair, and the Byrds all went to the Porters' house for yummy food and super relaxing hang-out time together. It was a great day!

Here is the magnificent spread of food!
We all contributed food to put together this menu:
turkey and gravy
green beans
sweet potatoes (w/ marshmellow topping!)
broccoli and cheese casserole
hashbrown casserole
stuffing
deviled eggs
cheddar biscuits
red pepper cheese dip (an appetizer!)

ooey gooey pumpkin cake
pecan pie
hot apple cider

The kids!

Dominoes!

I love this picture! Charlie is just laying on Daniel's arm, content as can be! Daniel was watching football.

Jeni, Charlie, and Jimmy

The day included visiting with each other, the Macy's parade, watching football, quasi-napping (i.e., laying on the Porters' sofa after lunch too full to move), Dominoes, poker (the guys played several games!), and a walk around the neighborhood (the girls and kids did this while the guys played cards). Also, Jenny dominated on the Playstation Friends trivia game!
Our Thanksgiving was leisurely and relaxing and spent with friends we love!

Two funnies:
*Despite Zane and Tara telling Bryson to stay out of the kitchen after lunch, he kept going in there and sneaking deviled eggs! (Can't say I blame him!) I giggled every time they caught him with his mouth full. ;) I was sneaking food too, I just didn't have anyone telling me not to...
*At one point in the afternoon Charlie was gazing at Zane, when he suddenly said, "Boo!" This scared Charlie, who then proceeded to stick out his bottom lip and cry. As his mom, it was both sad and funny. The rest of the afternoon, whenever he saw Zane, he would start crying again! What makes this doubly amusing is that Zane is great with kids and pretty much a big teddy bear. Apparently Charlie remembered this incident though, and he is just now starting to warm up to Zane again! (I'm writing this several weeks after Thanksgiving) They had a moment at the Christmas party the other night when I think they bonded a bit. :)
