Henry Turns One!

Saturday, May 4th we celebrated one year of having Henry with us! He is endlessly sweet, full of smiles, loves to snuggle, and loves to push around trucks, play ball, and climb stairs. He is easy-going and goes with the flow. He laughs at Charlie a lot and beams when Jimmy walks in the room. It will be so exciting to continue to watch our second born grow and increasingly show more of his personality. We love you, Henry!!

The celebration started first thing in the morning with presents!
Opening his truck from Charlie...

...and his book from Charlie.

Trying out his wagon from us!

Charlie liked the wagon too! Both boys had fun playing with it inside.

Later that morning Dad and Charlie went to Bryson's baseball game and to pick up Henry's birthday cake. I put the birthday boy down for a nap since he was just getting over a cold. After lunch we got ready for Henry's birthday party, and then Mom, Dad, and Daniel arrived!

The food table- cake, fruit salad, goldfish, Chex Mix, juice boxes, and sprite.
In the living room we had some balloons on top of the toy shelf, along with his hospital picture and footprints framed. We also set out the basket of party favors- little bags of Teddy Grahams (I forgot to take a picture of all that).

I was beyond delighted with this cake! Whole Foods decorated it exactly the way I wanted, and it was delicious. Jimmy and I picked a teddy bear theme because Henry is so sweet and cuddly!

Opening his big present from Mom and Dad before the party started

A water table!!

Reading Henry's new book together.

After a while the other guests started arriving...
Reagan and Brittany Alley were first. Isn't he precious?! He and Henry are only a couple weeks apart in age. The Alleys gave Henry this very cool baby Adirondack chair!

I think he was making his "scrunched-up-nose" face here.

Then Meagan and Sarah Grace arrived.

Playing

Opening Uncle D's present- a sound machine! (Jimmy and I were excited about that one!)
In addition to the water table, Mom and Dad also got him a fun animal puzzle.

"Reading" his cards

Charlie was right by him the whole time, helping him with his presents and cards! You can't tell by this picture, but Charlie was more than excited to open Henry's stuff!

Meagan and Sarah Grace gave him some really cute clothes...

...and this book.

I know I'm partial, but this. boy. is. HANDSOME.

I am one thankful mama for this little guy.

The Porters arrived in time to help us sing "Happy Birthday To You," and Logan and Aubrey shortly thereafter.

What was precious during this time was that Charlie was soooo excited for his brother! He was delighted when everyone sang to him and cheered for him after the song was over!

Touching his cake...

Not sure...

Nope, not gonna eat it. Just gonna make faces at it.

He finally turned his head away to show he wasn't going to eat it, ha!

We put a few bits of cake on his tray and he was still... not interested. Oh well!

A smile before he got out of his chair.

Big Brother enjoyed his cake, though!

Charlie played Musical Chairs and took his cake multiple places to eat it.

They enjoyed playing with the water table even though there was no water in it!

Jillian and Evelyn arrived towards the end of the party. We were glad they could come for a little while, though!

Jimmy with a lap full of little ones, and Daniel and Jillian visiting.

Henry playing with his new ball from the Porters.

Everyone visiting. Our house may be small by some standards, but that doesn't stop us from filling it with people!

Getting into the shoes at the end of the party...

After everyone left Jimmy took the boys on a wagon ride.

Henry got a breathing treatment before we headed out to Texas Roadhouse with Mom, Dad, and Daniel.

The birthday boy fell asleep on the way to the restaurant and stayed asleep part of the time. When he woke up, though, he was agitated and fussy, and we took turns trying to soothe him.

But Charlie was happy with his chicken and dip!

Once we got home, Henry was a happy camper and played just fine in the floor. We decided the Texas Roadhouse atmosphere might have been too much for our little guy... (or possibly a tummy ache...)

Granana got to put Henry to bed that night after he finished playing.
Laying on his changing table- night night birthday boy!!
