Our Tennessee Family Visit, Part I

At the beginning of July Mam-maw, Granny, and Marilyn were finally able to come visit us and meet Charlie! We are so grateful that they drove all the way here to see us and were able to stay a week. It was really precious to see Charlie and his Mam-maw get to know each other. He LOVES her! Of course he also enjoyed his Aunt Marilyn and his Great Granny. In addition to spoiling our boy, they spoiled us as well.

They got here Thursday evening, June 30, and came to the house to visit. Charlie was sleeping by the time they arrived, though, so they didn't really get to "meet" him at that point. The next day, Friday, we met them for lunch at a restaurant in downtown Durham called Parker & Otis. It was special to watch Bettra see her grandson for the first time, tear up a little, and proceed to immediately love on him!

A very happy Mam-maw!!

We had a great time together!

The girls

On Saturday they got to have Charlie all to themselves while Jimmy and I were at work.

Mam-maw and her boy!

On Sunday we all went to church together. Afterwards we took them to brunch at Girasole so they could see where I work.

Here is what Charlie had for lunch:

Charlie didn't waste any time in going after the table! We thought he would bang his hands on the table, but no, he preferred to teethe instead!

Three pretty ladies

Sunday afternoon we went swimming in the pool at their hotel. Charlie had a blast! (We did too...)

We all enjoyed the hot tub too!

Splish splash!

Sunday evening we went to the Cosmic Cantina in Durham- goooood eats!

Monday was the Fourth of July, so we all grilled out at our house. We had grilled corn, hamburgers, chips, potato salad, watermelon, and flag cake. Yum!

Marilyn's outfit for the Fourth- her shirt had fireworks on it, and her jeans had red, white and blue paint!

Jimmy got to try out his grill for the first time with some grilled corn!

We set up our pavilion in the front yard so we could eat outside. It was sooo hot, though, so we ate came back inside right after we ate!

That evening it stormed, so we couldn't go watch fireworks like we had planned. Instead, we hung out together at the house and relaxed.
