Vin Rouge, Finally!

So, anyone that knows me (Rebecca) really well knows that I've been trying to eat at a French restaurant, for well, several years now. Seems like every time we've tried to make arrangements to go, it never works out. BUT, it finally worked out on July 15th!!!!! We had a special date night to celebrate being married 2 years and 6 months. Jimmy brought me "roses" in the form of a beautiful candle, and we got all dressed up for our special night out.

Getting ready- words could not describe how excited I was!
Vin Rouge is a small French bistro at the corner of Hillsborough and Ninth Street in Durham. I've driven by it for years now!
When we got there we were given crusty French bread and an olive oil mixture with Kalamata olives in it. I started off with an amazing glass of Reisling- different from "normal" Reisling, it was actually dry and very refreshing (don't judge- I wasn't officially accepted back into Southeastern at that point....).
We decided that instead of "committing" to two large entrees, we would have a good time trying appetizers. So, we had the...
3 Cheese Selection of French & Local Cheeses (with fruit and sugared walnuts!)
Carmelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tart (Our favorite selection!)
Chicken Liver Pate (with onion marmalade that was to die for...)
Oyster Gratinee (with bacon, leeks, and gruyere cheese.... sooooo creamy and amazing)

We finished the meal off with coffee and creme brulee. Mmmmmm.....

Thank you, France, for your awesome food. And thank you Jimmy, for making a mini dream come true. : )
