Wake Forest Christmas Parade

Earlier in December we had a Saturday of firsts for the boys! They attended their first birthday party for a friend and then their first Christmas parade. The party was fun and exhausting at the same time... I was trying to handle both kids by myself since Jimmy was at work and was trying not to feel too claustrophobic with all the people! And it is always interesting to watch Charlie in a group of kids- he is usually more subdued than he is at home, watching everything and basically just minding his own business. Charlie ate his snacks and some cake and played with some trains the birthday boy had. Henry sat in a high chair chewing on things. And I found out that one of the moms at the party is from my hometown and that we had the same piano teacher. Small world!

Mom and Dad came up after the party, and we headed to Chick-fil-A for lunch. Then we went downtown for the parade. Charlie was enthralled.

Once he got used to the parade he started telling people hi and dancing a bit when a band or musical float would go by. It was fun to watch him watch the parade!

Henry was unimpressed. He pretty much chewed on his foot most of the time.

This smile really gets to me. I might be in trouble.

There were several bands since there are several high schools in town. Charlie really enjoyed them, especially the drums!

Of course Santa was the finale.

We got to watch some of the parade again, since it turned down a street just a short walk from us.

So sweet!

Then we went to the parking lot where one of the fire trucks was parked. We wanted Charlie to be able to see it close up.

A good time was had by all!

The next day, after a wonderful service at church and lunch with our small group, we went through the McDonald's drive thru to get some seasonal treats. I got a peppermint McFlurry and Jimmy got an eggnog milkshake. Charlie got a cookie.

Chocolate-faced Charlie!
